1.6T OSFP-XD PAM4 to 1.6T OSFP-XD PAM4 Active Electrical Cable
1.6T OSFP-XD PAM4 to 1.6T OSFP-XD PAM4 Active Electrical Cable
The 1.6T active electrical cable data rate is 1.6Tbps OSFP-XD PAM4 to 1.6T OSFP-XD PAM4. The hot pluggable cable offers bidirectional 1.6Tbps data transmission per cable. The AEC cable provides 16 lanes of 106G PAM4 signal at each side. The typical power consumption at the OSFP-XD end is 20 Watts. The AEC cable complies with OSFP-XD MSA and CMIS v5.1 specifications. The I2C management interface ensures high-reliability interconnects through comprehensive monitoring, configuration, etc.
The active electrical cable adopts thinner copper cables without any optical component. The AECs can provide a cost-effective alternative to active optical cables (AOCs) for the data center in-rack applications. The AECs take up to 75% less volume than DACs and consume up to 50% less power than AOCs. It is ideal for hyper-scale data centers, HPCs, and AI/ML training applications.

Questions & Answers
What is an AEC cable?
An Active Electrical Cable (AEC) is a high-speed copper cable with integrated electronics that extends the reach and performance of high-speed data transmission compared to traditional Direct Attach Cables (DACs).
What are the common form factors for AEC cables?
AEC cables’ common form factors include QSFP-DD, QSFP56, and OSFP, OSFP-XD.
What are the typical transmission speeds and distances supported by AEC cables?
Active electrical cables support speeds up to 1.6T and distances of 2.5 meters.
