800G(8×1112) QSFP-DD PAM4 to 2x400G(8x56G or 4x112G)QSFP-DD PAM4 AEC Cable
The 800G (8x112G) QSFP-DD PAM4 to 2x400G (8x56G or 4x112G) QSFP-DD PAM4 active electrical cable is designed for data center rack-to-rack connectivity and supports reaching up to 2.5m data transmission. The AEC cable complies with the specifications of the QSFP-DD800 type 2 MSA and QSFP-DD MSA. The hot pluggable electrical cable supports 8 lanes of 112G PAM4 signal in each direction. It provides a breakout function into 2x400G QSFP-DD data transmission (which can be selected 4x112G or 8x56G with software). The typical power dissipation on the 800G side is 10 Watts and on per 400G side is 5 Watts. The AEC cable has a single 3.3V power supply and an operating case temperature range of 0 to +70ºC. The active electrical cable realizes high-performance interconnects through the I2C management interface.
The active electrical cable is ideal for AI/ML training and high-speed campus network applications, this cable consumes up to 75% less power and takes 50% less cost than the AOC cable. The AECs offer 10 years of service life.

Questions & Answers
What is an AEC cable?
An Active Electrical Cable (AEC) is a high-speed copper cable with integrated electronics that extends the reach and performance of high-speed data transmission compared to traditional Direct Attach Cables (DACs).
What are the common form factors for AEC cables?
-
Common form factors include QSFP-DD, QSFP56, and OSFP, OSFP-XD.
How do AEC cables handle signal integrity and power consumption?
AEC cables employ advanced signal processing techniques like equalization and timing recovery to maintain signal integrity over longer distances. They also require external power.
