24-core ARM64 Open Hardware Platform for Intelligent Networking, Security, Wireless Infrastructure, and Multi-access Edge Compute

The Asterfusion ET3212A is a high-performance open computing platform designed for edge computing, network NPB, and NFV offload. The Marvell OCTEON TX2 CN9670 DPU-based network platform supports 2-port 100G QSFP28 and 12-port 10G SFP+ network interfaces. The WT3212A can support up to 192GB of high-speed DDR4 memory. The DPU chip contains a multi-core ARM processor and a variety of hardware acceleration co-processors. These hardware units can accelerate the service processing progress of high-speed data streams in the network, including protocol analysis, compression, decompression, encryption, decryption, deep packet inspection, etc. Based on excellent traffic processing performance, the ET series open computing platform can respond quickly to the deployment needs of various customer applications.
In addition to high-performance DPU chips, the ET series switch also provides a one-stop software development environment, including a standard Linux kernel network operation system, container virtualization environment, and DPDK&VPP development kits. Therefore, customers can deploy almost all network applications on the ET series switch, such as OVS offloading, DPDK&VPP applications, and NPB.

Software

With the general-purpose ARM multi-core processor inside the Asterfusion® ET3000A Intelligent Service Processing Unit, developers can deploy almost all network applications such as OVS, VPP and NGINX, into Asterfusion® ET3000A switch.

Coupled with container and virtualization technologies, Asterfusion®ET3000A switch can easily support the porting of the various applications running on x86-based architecture onto the ARM architecture

Developer-friendly Software Environment

ET3212A comes with a basic NOS, FusionNOS-Framework, which can be used as the foundation to develop user’s upper-layer applications
  • Fully functional development kits
  • Provide all the libraries and APIs required for network and security processing.
  • DPDK, VPP, SPDK, Debian and Ubuntu Support

Application

  • Network security appliance and offloads
  • Network packet broker
  • Edge routers and switches
  • Network Function Virtualization (NFV)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI),
  • SSL/IPsec offload processing,
  • LTE/ IoT/Fog / Edge gateways
  • Next-generation firewall
  • SD-WAN
→ NFV acceleration offload in cloud network

Asterfusion® ET3000A hardware can support efficient NFV deployments.

Through offloading network functions from servers, Asterfusion® ET3212A switch can alleviate the problems such as computing performance degradation and increased OAM complexity usually encountered in the traditional NFV deployment model, thus improving overall cloud network efficiency.
→ 5G UPF application
As a key network function of 5G core network, UPF is usually deployed in virtual container format to carry out core functions like data traffic routing & processing, etc. With AsterNOS network operating system, Asterfusion® ET3000A switch can support UPF application deployment with functions such as data forwarding, traffic QOS, and PFCP session management, thus providing customers a light-weight and low-cost 5G-UPFapplication deployment platform.
→ NPB Functions
When running with the Asterfusion network operating system, the SoC processor inside Asterfusion® ET3212A can support advanced network NPB functions like SSL encryption and decryption, packet de-duplication, signaling correlation marking, etc,. It can offload the processing of network traffic in back-end analytical systems and meet the overall needs of system performance, power consumption and TCO.

FAQs

Any odds it runs advanced queue management algorithms like fq_codel (rfc8290)?

ET3000 Series are open hardware, any queue algorithm can be implemented in software, using dpdk or vpp.

We want to try to install 6WIND on your Marvell Octeon ET3000A,does it work?

6Wind running on our ET3212A, I’m not sure if they are able to run on ARM especially Pcteon TX, please give more info. We usually run our own applications based on Vpp.

Does Asterfusion ET3000A support ARM64 DPDK?

Yes. we support. For S/W: we will provide standard Debian linux with kernel source code patched with BSP, also we will provide DPDK source code running on the H/W.

What do you provide by software development on ET3000A Series?

S/W: we will provide standard Debian linux with kernel source code patched with BSP, also we will provide DPDK source code running on the H/W.

I know that network monitoring, hardware security is good to use OCTEON, but not sure if GPU workloads accelerating can use OCTEON ?

If you have your software and running on NXP, I think it’s no problem on OCTEON almost.

What is Lead time of Asterfusion Marvell Octeon TX ET3000A?

We can provide 1~4 weeks lead time under 20 units and 4-8 weeks under 100 units so far.
