TIP-based OpenWiFi Controller V1.0R008 Major Update in 2025 Q3
Introduction
Introduction
Asterfusion TIP OpenWiFi Controller is a cloud-native enterprise-class management platform designed for unified wired and wireless network operations. Based on the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) OpenWiFi standard, it enables open, vendor-neutral, and scalable WLAN deployment with seamless interoperability across third-party OpenWiFi-compatible devices.
With support for both cloud and on-premise deployment, the controller provides centralized configuration, zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), and real-time network monitoring. Through open APIs and automation, it simplifies large-scale network rollout while ensuring flexibility and investment protection for future innovations in open networking.

Authentication and Account Management
Support for OAuth 2.0 Authentication
Asterfusion follows the open-standard OpenID Connect framework based on OAuth 2.0 authentication, allowing users to securely log in through third-party Identity Providers (IdPs) without entering passwords directly in the controller. Currently, Asterfusion supports the following commonly used IdPs: Google, Microsoft, GitHub, and Feishu.
Network Topology Recognition
1. Support for Layer 2 MCLAG Scenarios
OpenWiFi controller supports MCLAG-based topology deployment, ensuring high service reliability and link redundancy for servers in the data center network.
2. Support for CSV-Based Topology Import
By defining device roles, interconnection interfaces, and other parameters in a CSV file, users can import the file with a single click, and the controller will automatically generate the corresponding network topology.
3. Automated Topology Comparison
After importing the planned topology, the controller can compare it with the live network topology, identify discrepancies, and highlight the differences for quick analysis and correction.
Operations and Visualization
1. Support for Customizable WebUI Dashboards:
Users can customize dashboard layouts to improve monitoring and operational experience.
2. AP Details Page:
Displays SSID and associated wireless clients.
3. Optical Modules Monitoring
Supports monitoring of optical module power and related parameters.
4. NTP Server Status:
Supports viewing the status of NTP services.
