Questions & Answers

Is this hot-pluggable?

Yes, this transceiver features a hot-pluggable QSFP56 form factor, allowing you to insert and remove it without powering down your network equipment.

What transmission distance can I achieve?

This 200GBASE-FR4 transceiver supports transmission distances of up to 2 km over single-mode fiber, making it ideal for data center interconnects and campus networks.

What are common types of 200G optical transceivers?

QSFP56 (Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable 56) Modulation: Primarily uses PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4), which allows 4 lanes to carry 50Gbps each, achieving a total of 200Gbps. This is an evolution from NRZ (Non-Return to Zero) modulation used in previous generations.

QSFP-DD (Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable Double-Density) Modulation: For 200G, QSFP-DD can use both NRZ (Non-Return to Zero) and PAM4. When using NRZ, it typically employs 8 lanes of 25Gbps to achieve 200Gbps. The “double-density” refers to its ability to support twice the number of high-speed electrical interfaces compared to standard QSFP28. This form factor is also used for 400G and 800G.

Will this work with other vendor equipment besides Asterfusion?

While this transceiver is Asterfusion-compatible, it follows industry standards (IEEE 802.3bs, IEEE 802.3cd, and QSFP56 MSA CMIS V4.0). However, for optimal performance and warranty coverage, we recommend using it as intended with Asterfusion equipment.
