Asterfusion has announced the official launch of full series of access& aggregation network switch for new generation cloud campus network in this Q4, which embrace the design concept of openness, simplification and energy saving. It is equipped with the self-developed AsterNOS network operating system based on the SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud),which aims to facilitate the transformation of open campus network services.

Asterfusion campus network switches use a single configuration template for the entire network,through Zero-touch provisioning greatly shorten the equipment online time；no matter how many devices are connected to the network, the configuration modification of a single device is automatically synchronized to the entire network, effectively simplifying the complexity of daily operation and maintenance.
What is Zero Touch Provisioning?
Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) is a way to set up devices that automatically configures devices using switch feature. ZTP helps IT staff quickly deploy network devices in large-scale environments, eliminating much of the manual effort to add them to the network. It’s usually found in devices such as network switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls. It allows the IT team to install network equipment without human intervention. In the case of large scale configuration of many devices, manual configuration not only takes time and is prone to human error,while ZTP is faster and colud reduce the chance of human error and ensuring configuration consistency.
Each port of the Asterfusion switch is a broadcast domain, and each terminal is isolated at Layer 2 and invisible to each other by default,in a result, viruses spread by ” broadcast “no longer have a foothold, effectively preventing malicious attacks on the network. In addition, access control will be performed for each MAC address, and the security policy of terminal roaming will be dynamically synchronized, so that the campus network can completely solve the problem of broadcast storms.
One Network for Multiple Purposes
Asterfusion campus network solution uses one physical network to host multiple” logical “networks. For example ,different enterprises in the same campus, different departments in the same company, and different services in the same physical network can be regarded as different virtual tenants .Multiple virtual tenants share a physical network, and tenants are isolated at Layer 2 without affecting each other,achieving “one network for multiple purposes” and help enterprise users reducing OPEX effectively.
Asterfusion open and agile campus solution, help enterprise users face the challenges brought by mobility easily. All terminals are in the same network segment and automatically go online with 32-bit Host routing through ARP To Host. The downlink IPs of all Leafs are the same IP, realizing a unified distributed gateway.When roaming, the MAC and routing entries of the whole network devices are updated by a distributed routing algorithm. After roaming, through ARP To Host to quickly go online in microseconds. Meanthile, the IP address remains unchanged, and ACL, SNP and other entries are globally synchronized, enabling services to travel freely.
In addition, all managed open switches all come with Asterfusion in-house developed open AsterNOS software, which is an open source SONiC based, production-ready and feature rich NOS. It is a modular design and container-based application architecture, with a key-value database (Redis) based message publish and subscribe mechanism, and unified SAI (Switch Abstraction Interface) interface, which make it stand out from many open source network operating systems.
What is SONiC (Network Operating System)
SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud) is a free and open source network operating system based on Linux and developed by Microsoft and the Open Compute Project.
SONiC includes the networking software components necessary for a fully functional L3 device and was designed to meet the requirements of a cloud data center.It allows cloud operators to share the same software stack across hardware from different switch vendors.
AsterNOS is a ready to use, commercial enterprise SONiC distribution. It has been improved from the basic aspects of functional features, product quality, component maintenance, etc., and combined with various typical application scenarios to do enough test verification, defect repair and other work.
