Larger Forwarding Table and Packet Buffer by Using Marvell Prestera (Falcon) ASIC

The Asterfusion CX308P-48Y-N switch offers a significant enhancement in its memory capacity, allowing for larger pools of shared memory between forwarding engines. This upgrade effectively more than doubles the capacity of previous solutions. Additionally, the switch provides support for up to 16K Equal-Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) path scale, offering congestion-aware load balancing or Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB) with hardware to prevent Out-of-Order (Ooo) issues within a flow. Furthermore, it incorporates globally shared packet buffers with dynamic buffer absorption and improved support for microburst handling. With its fine-grained buffer segmentation, the switch achieves a 2x higher packet capacity compared to existing solutions.

Automate Installation & Easy Deployment

The Asterfusion CX-M switch supports ZTP (Zero Touch Provisioning), which be able to retrieve configuration files from local or remote file servers and then load the configurations into the switches automatically.

ONIE (open network install environment) is also preloaded on the switch. With ONIE, it can automatically install, upgrade and manage different versions of network operating system software. This combination of ZTP and ONIE would allow data center administrators to cut down the OAM workload and hence significantly reduce the overall operational cost.

01 / Asterfusion SONiC NOS Support RDMA over Converged Ethernet (ROCE)

-Zero Packet Loss RoCE provides efficient lossless transport data center network

The Asterfusion CX308P-48Y-N supports RoCEv2 which allows remote direct memory access (RDMA) over an Ethernet network. It solves the delay of server-side data processing and frees up the CPU to do more important tasks, such as running applications and processing large amounts of data. It increases bandwidth and reduces latency, jitter, and CPU consumption, helping to build highly efficient and cost-effective data center networks.

02 / Asterfusion SONiC NOS Support VXLAN & BGP EVPN

-Implements a layer-2 virtual network structure dynamically
MP-BGP EVPN Technology

EVPN-VXLAN expands the potential number of Layer 2 domains and realizes services such as multi-tenant hosting and virtual machine migration.

03 / Asterfusion SONiC NOS Supports EVPN Multi-homing

AsterNOS 3.1-R0314P06.2, supports EVPN multihoming, adresses several customer challenges. Firstly, EVPN multihoming allows for the connection of a customer site to multiple Provider Edge (PE) devices, ensuring redundancy &high availability through multiple traffic paths. It also facilitates traffic load balancing across multiple PE devices. Moreever, it eliminates the need for complex protocols like STP and VRRP, thereby simplifying network design.

04 / Asterfusion SONiC NOS Support In-band Network Telemetry

-For intelligent cloud data center network operations

The Asterfusion CX532P-N switch supports INT(In-band Network Telemetry) which provides accurate and comprehensive real- time network telemetry information including port interfaces, packet latency, packet queue lengths, etc. Cloud data center network administrators can leverage INT information to optimize their business applications and network operations, helping to build efficient, intelligent and highly resilient data center networks.

FAQ
How AsterNOS is differ from SONiC Community ?

Firstly ,AsterNOS is a commercial SONiC NOS compare to native SONiC community, which means  AsterNOS it’s ready to use version for enterprises, especially we have optimized and upgraded network virtualization functions (Overlay Network), such as VXLAN &BGP- EVPN.

What the feature that Atersfusion SONiC NOS support?
It built on top of standard Linux systems and with SONiC/SAI as its kernel is characterized by fully open structure, completely decoupled hardware and software, loosely unionized software modules, high reliability architecture, and easy functional expansion. It leverages the latest technologies such as containers and in-memory database.
Does AsterNOS can run on other vendor’s hardware?
Our SONiC based AsterNOS can perfect run on our own hardware, in theory it can run on other vendor’s hardware, there will be a problem on verify the compatibility between our software and other vedor’s hardware,we can arrange a meeting call discuss specially.  We strongly suggest you to use our own hardware, which supports the best software compatibility, tech support, hardware stability and of course very good cost.
Is there any license fee or software support fee that we need to pay for your version of SONiC?

Usually our AsterNOS runs on our own hardware (for Tofino and Teralynx), we provide either bare metal hardware, or hardware with AsterNOS, there is some amount of software cost if you choose H/W and S/W bundle, but this bundle should be more cost effective than today’s WhiteBox from one vendor and NOS from another vendor.

Does Asterfusion SONiC NOS support EVPN , Vxlan and MC LAG ?

Yes,AsterNOS fully support EVPN, Vxlan and MC LAG
