100GBASE–SWDM4- SR-QSFP28 BiDi Optical Transceiver Module( 850nm, 880nm, 910nm, 940nm, 100m(OM4), Duplex LC, MMF)

These 100G QSFP28 SWDM4 transceiver units work great for 100G Ethernet over duplex multimode fiber. This QSFP28 transceiver connects four channels in the 850-940nm (850nm, 880nm, 910nm, and 940nm)wavelength range. Each channel transmits data at 25.78Gbps, for a total of 103.1Gbps. It supports 100 meters over OM4 MMF and 150 meters over OM5 multimode fiber. The transceiver module is designed to work efficiently with less than 3.5W of power consumption. The module’s duplex LC receptacles make the link safe and stable, which makes it ideal for short-range data transfers and interconnect uses. This hot-pluggable unit not only allows for simple updates and maintenance but also offers digital diagnostic monitoring via an I2C interface, granting access to real-time operating information. Its conformance with the most recent industry standards provides compatibility and dependability, making it an ideal solution for leveraging existing 10Gb duplex MMF infrastructure to handle 100G connection requirements.

FAQ

What is the meaning of BiDi SWDM?
BiDi: This module sends and receives data using the same MMF strand at various bands to avoid interference, like other BiDi modules. SWDM merges four data streams onto a single fiber using a larger wavelength range.
How does SWDM allow 100 Gigabit speeds on one fiber?
Four 25 Gbps data streams are sent via SWDM using 850nm to 940nm wavelengths, allowing fast data transfer while preserving the MMF system.
How far OM3, OM4, and OM5 fibers can’t reach?
SWDM gives this transceiver a longer range than a standard SR4:
SWDM may boost reach over regular SR4 on OM3 (70 meters), but it is best for shorter distances.
100-meter OM4: This range is typical for 100G-SR4 with OM4, but SWDM may improve it.
150-meter OM5: This transceiver’s highest-grade MMF provides the longest reach, ideal for data center links.
Do LC plugs have compatibility issues?
One LC connection sends and one receives data. For optimal performance, use LC connectors with UPC polish in your fiber optic connection.
I have OM3 fiber. Can I use this transceiver?
Even with OM3 fiber, this receiver may be beneficial. The range may be less than 100 meters, although it may be better than the OM3 SR4.
What if I require OM5 to reach over 150 meters?
Single-mode fiber (SMF) QSFP28 transceivers have a longer reach (several kilometers) but various connector types (typically SC) for distances beyond 150 meters.
What happens if SWDM wavelengths get mixed up?
Link sending and receiving are commonly configured for the transceiver’s SWDM wavelengths. In mixing them up, the link would likely break, but they wouldn’t cause permanent damage. Still, they would likely result in a non-functional connection.
