MSA Compatible 400G QSFP-DD SR4.2 Optical Transceiver Module(BiDi 850nm 908nm, 70m(OM3) 150m(OM4), MPO12)

The QSFP-DD 400GBASE SR4.2 BiDi 850nm 908nm optical transceiver module meets the QSFP-DD MSA, RoHS-6, 400GAUI-8/PAM4, and IEEE 802.3 standards. This 400G QSFP-DD module supports 425Gb/s bit rates, transmission distances up to 70m on OM3 and 150m on OM5. The bidirectional (BiDi) optical transceiver utilizes a QSFP56-DD form factor. It enables optical communication over multi-mode fiber with two groups of optical bidirectional lanes, each containing four pairs of optical lanes. The transmitter uses 850nm VCSEL for the first group and 908nm VCSEL for the second group. On the receiver side, the module accepts eight optical input signals. It converts them to eight electrical data channels, outputting voltage-compatible signals with Common Mode Logic (CML) levels.
The BiDi transceiver can be used in QSFP-DD SR4.2 to QSFP-DD SR4.2 point-to-point communication and QSFP-DD SR4.2 to 4x QSFP28 SR1.2 breakout communication. The module has an MPO-12 receptacle for connectivity and a maximum power consumption of less than 12W, which is suitable for interconnecting servers and switches in data centers.

Questions & Answers

What is the difference between QSFP-DD and QSFP28 transceiver modules?
QSFP-DD (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Double Density) 400G modules support higher port density and faster 400G speeds. The QSFP28 transceiver module supports speeds of up to 100G. QSFP-DD transceiver modules have twice as many lanes as QSFP28 modules. QSFP-DD 400G modules are ideal for higher-bandwidth connections.
What is a QSFPDD-400G-SR4.2 optical transceiver module?
The QSFPDD-400G-SR4.2 optical transceiver module is designed for 400G Ethernet and data center applications. It supports Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF) and delivers high-speed connectivity over short distances. Ideal for high-bandwidth applications, data center interconnects (DCIs), high-performance computing, and enterprise applications that need high bandwidth and low latency.
How can the QSFPDD-400G-SR4.2 module benefit data centers?
Modern data centers need high bandwidth to efficiently handle massive data quantities. The 400G data rate provides this.
Multi-mode fiber (MMF) is cheaper than single-mode fiber (SMF) at shorter distances.
Scalability: Meets changing bandwidth demands, future-proofing.
Energy-efficient: Its 12W power usage cuts operational costs.
How do I install a QSFPDD-400G-SR4.2 module?
To install the QSFPDD-400G-SR4.2, insert the module into a compatible QSFP-DD slot on your switch or router. Ensure that the module is aligned properly and locked into place. Connect the appropriate multi-mode fiber (MMF) cables to the module’s ports. Always follow safety and handling instructions to avoid damage to the module and ensure optimal performance.
